KITESURFING LESSONS IN MAURITIUS
Kiteaholic Bastard Kite School Mauritius is based at Anse la Raie beach in the North of the island.
IDEAL SPOT
Anse la Raie is a beach mainly used for water sports and for kiteboarding as there are very few swimmers.
Our kite spot is great to begin and progress with its shallow bay and the huge deeper lagoon.
Less famous than Le Morne Kite lagoon in the South West, Anse la Raie allows you to ride in numerous wind directions with fewer people on the spot.

WHY DO YOU NEED A KITE LESSON ?
Would you drive a powerful car without learning how to and without having a driving license?
Answer: No! So get your Kite "driving" License!
SAFETY IS A PRIORITY
Kitesurfing has become a safe sport over the years, the equipment has been developed/improved to keep you safe.
However, the risks can be increased when you are a beginner & learning in strong wind (above 15knts) with inappropriate equipment.
Kite lessons are essential for learning about the equipment, developing the correct techniques, using them at the right time, and being properly aware of the limits of the sport.
We want to make you a good, experienced, and safe kiteboarder.

KITESURFING SEASONS IN MAURITIUS
When is it possible to kitesurf in Mauritius and why is it so windy?
Mauritius island is perfect for kiteboarding and kitesurfing. It is possible to practice kitesurfing safely on the island because of the easy and safe conditions in different lagoons along the coast. Kiteboarders can choose between flat & choppy water or wavy spots.
Our tropical island is windy all year long because of the trade winds. The wind is blowing from the poles (high-pressure areas) in the direction of the equator (low-pressure area) and we are exactly on the way.
The exchanges of atmospheric pressure (Hectopascal is the measure of the weight of a column of air per square meter) plays also a big role in the weather that we have in Mauritius.
A typical wind day in Mauritius: Wind is starting to blow progressively around 9h/10h and increases during the day. In the late afternoon you often have the possibility of doing a last sunset session before the wind drops.

The best kitesurfing season in Mauritius starts with our winter season: you can expect around 80 to 90 % windy days with a solid trade wind coming from the Southeast predominantly and shifting sometimes to the East. The kitesurfing season in Mauritius is still "on" in summer with 50 to 60% windy days and lighter wind (about 25% less).
The summer season is about 20% less windy than winter due to less difference in pressure in the region, so the flow of wind is less important which impacts the temperatures, on average a difference of about 5 degrees more in Summer.
The Summer is the period where we have our tropical depressions and storm, the cyclones (the cyclonic period stands between mid-November till mid-May).
